This is a fish photo from earlier this summer but I really like it and wanted to get it posted here. Montana truly is big sky country and, while the focal point of this photo is the awesome rainbow being displayed, the sky in the background really exemplifies a day
Here’s a shot of a very nice Yellowstone River cutthroat that ate a hopper right off of the bank. This was a fish that had refused two different patterns and one who we rowed back upstream to set up on. A change of fly, a nice cast, a great mend,

The riffle water is where they want to be when the temps get warm. That’s where this rainbow was eating. Nice cast, then mend to create an excellent presentation to get this one. Great fish!

Here’s a shot of a beauty of a day from not too long ago. It’s always nice to take in the river without a rod in hand, especially when sitting on a nice cool bank.
It’s that special time of the year when grasshoppers become a staple of so many of the local fish diets. This beauty of a cutthroat ate a nice big foam hopper floating in a perfect Yellowstone River seam. Sounds good, right? It is! Nice fish!
Here’s a nice brown that lit up our boat. A crowd pleaser so to speak. We were already happy just to be there sharing the day and the time on the water together. It really couldn’t get much better..
